Common questions/issues:
Vintage 1.x:
On a 1.x theme, click on the 'Registry and Wishlist' app embed box to open its settings. There will be a setting for 'Online Store Version' with options 2.0 and 1.x. Select 1.x. The app should automatically detect your product form and place the buttons on the page.
Now you are all set up! You can then use the app embed settings to tweak the look and feel of the buttons to perfectly match your needs. If you have any questions, or require assistance in this process, please contact our support team where we will be happy to help you!
I only want the registry button / I only want the wishlist button.
To find this setting, go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. Here there will be a setting 'Registry Button Visibility' or 'Wishlist Button Visibility'. You can set this to be "No wishlist button" or "No registry button".
How do I place the buttons exactly where I want them?
On a Shopify 2.0 theme, you can drag the 'Wishlist/Registry button' block around inside your product information section. This will place the buttons exactly where you need them.
On a Shopify 1.x theme we cannot move the button blocks like on a 2.0 theme. Instead, go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. In here will be a setting Button Location Override (Advanced). If you are not experienced with theme development, it is recommended you ask your theme developer or our support team for help with this setting. On your product page you will want to locate the css element you want your buttons to be placed at. Then enter that element identifier in this setting box. You can then specify if you want the buttons placed inside, before, or after this element in the setting below; 'Button Location Placement (Advanced)'.
My buttons are too close together / too far apart
If you are using a Shopify 2.0 theme, you can adjust this by clicking the 'Wishlist/Registry Buttons' app block on your product information section. This will expand several settings for setting the gap between buttons.
If you are on a 1.x theme, you can go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. Here there will be an option for 'Custom CSS' at the bottom. An example to space buttons is below. If you would require more advanced spacing, and are not familliar with css, you can ask your theme developer or contact our support team for assistance.

How can I change my wishlist/registry button to be an image?
To find this setting, go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. There are options here to change the appearance of the registry and/or wishlist buttons to be an image instead. Clicking this option will give you an assortment of Shopify generic images, or allow you to upload any image you wish.
I have modified settings but they are not showing up
Some of the settings, like button color, have a separate toggle that must also be enabled for them to come into effect.
Some of the settings will only show up on your page after you have saved them in the customize view.
Occasionally, your store, and other apps you may have installed, will run their own scripts in the background. These can occasionally cause unintended side effects when interacting with Gift Reggie. If you believe this is the case, our support will be happy to help diagnose the exact issue.
How can I have buttons on only some products?
Gift Reggie buttons are attached to your store's product templates. If you wish to have some products with buttons and some without, these products will have to be in different product templates.
On a Shopify 2.0 theme, you can include the Wishlist/Registry button block in the product information section on only the product templates you wish. On the other product templates you can either not add this block, or hide/remove the block if it already exists.
Unfortunately, Shopify only supports adding new templates on 2.0 themes. If you are on a 1.x theme you will not be able to separate buttons and products.
How do I set the buttons to only appear to people with registries?
To find this setting, go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. Here there will be a setting 'Registry Button Visibility' or 'Wishlist Button Visibility'. You can set this to be "Only logged in customers see the button".
How do I set the button styling to match my store's other buttons?
Most Shopify themes use html class names on buttons to set many styling rules at once. If you want Gift Reggie buttons to exactly match your store buttons you can set Gift Reggie's class names to match your store buttons. To find this setting, go to the app embed section on the customizer and click the 'Registry and Wishlist' embed. Here there will be the setting titled 'Additional Registry Button CSS class names' or 'Additional Wishlist Button CSS class names'. Here you can enter any/all class names to use styling from.
How do I tell if my store is using a 1.x or 2.0 theme?
Shopify has a great guide here for identifying 2.0 vs vintage (1.x) themes
here.
