Gift Reggie Setup Guide

Welcome

Thank you for installing Gift Reggie by Modd Apps! This guide will walk you through the simple steps to add registry and wishlist functionality to your Shopify store. By the end of this setup, your customers will be able to add products to their registries and wishlists directly from your product pages.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, please ensure that:

  • Gift Reggie by Modd apps is installed on your Shopify store
  • You have access to your Shopify admin panel

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Access the Theme Customizer

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel
  2. From the left sidebar, navigate to Online Store
  3. Click on Themes
  4. Locate your active theme and click the Customize button

Step 2: Enable the App Embed

  1. In the theme editor, look for the App embeds icon (puzzle piece symbol) in the left sidebar
  2. Click on the App embeds icon to view available app integrations
  3. Locate Registry and Wishlist provided by Gift Reggie: Gift Registry
  4. Toggle the switch to ON to enable the app embed

This activates the Gift Reggie functionality across your store.

 

 

Step 3: Navigate to Product Template

  1. In the left sidebar, click on Sections
  2. At the top of the page, you will see a dropdown that displays your current page (typically "Home page")
  3. Click on this dropdown and navigate to Products → Default product

This will take you to the product page template where you can add the registry and wishlist buttons.

 

 

 

Step 4: Locate the Product Information Section

  1. On the left sidebar, you will see the Default product with expandable sections beneath it
  2. Look for the Template section
  3. Click on Product information to expand it

You will now see all the elements that make up your product page, such as Text, Title, Price, Buy buttons, and more.

 

 

Step 5: Add the Wishlist/Registry Buttons

  1. Scroll through the Product information elements until you find Buy buttons 
  2. Right-click on the Buy buttons element
  3. From the context menu, select Add block after (You can also add at another location too. Just right-click at the element where you want to add. Let's say after "Quantity selector")
  4. A pop-up window will appear with two tabs: Blocks and Apps
  5. Click on the Apps tab
  6. Select Wishlist/Registry Buttons from Gift Reggie: Gift Registry

The registry and wishlist buttons will now appear on your product pages, positioned directly below the "Add to cart" and "Buy it now" buttons.

 

 

 

Step 6: Customize Button Settings (Optional)

Once the Wishlist/Registry Buttons block is added, you can customize its appearance:

  1. Click on the Wishlist/Registry Buttons block in the left sidebar
  2. A settings panel will appear on the right side with the following options:
    • Top Margin: Adjust spacing above the buttons
    • Side Margin: Adjust spacing on the left and right
    • Bottom Margin: Adjust spacing below the buttons
    • Gap Between Buttons: Control the space between individual buttons
    • Reserved Height: Set a minimum height for the button area

Adjust these settings to match your store's design and layout preferences.

 

 

Step 7: Save Your Changes

  1. Click the Save button in the top-right corner of the theme editor
  2. Your changes will be published to your live store

STILL UNABLE TO ADD BUTTONS USING THE ABOVE STEPS, OR UNABLE TO ADD BUTTONS AT THE DESIRED LOCATION?

This might be possible that your product page doesn't look as shown in the guide, or you are unable to add buttons at your desired location.
Please follow the guide below to use Advanced Settings in the App embeds to add buttons.

Step 8: Add Gift Reggie Links to Your Store Menu (Optional but Recommended)

To make it easy for customers to access registry features, you can add Gift Reggie links to your store's navigation menu.

  1. From your Shopify admin, navigate to Content → Menus

  2. Click on the menu where you want to add Gift Reggie links (typically Main menu)

  3. Click Add menu item

  4. Add the following links as needed:

Available Gift Reggie Links:

  • Gift Registry (Landing Page)
    • Name: Gift Registry
    • Link: /apps/giftregistry
    • Purpose: Main landing page for your gift registry feature
  • Find a Registry (Search Page)
    • Name: Find a Registry
    • Link: /apps/giftregistry/find
    • Purpose: Allows customers to search for existing registries
  • Create a Registry (Creation Page)
    • Name: Create Registry
    • Link: /apps/giftregistry/create
    • Purpose: Allows customers to create their own registry
  • Manage Registry (Management Page)
    • Name: My Registry
    • Link: /apps/giftregistry/manage
    • Purpose: Allows customers to manage their registry items
  • My Wishlist (Wishlist Page)
    • Name: My Wishlist
    • Link: /apps/giftregistry/wishlist
    • Purpose: Allows customers to manage their wishlist (if wishlist feature is enabled)
  1. For each link you want to add:
    • Enter the Name (how it will appear in your menu)
    • Paste the Link exactly as shown above
    • Click Add
  2. Arrange the menu items in your preferred order by dragging and dropping
  3. Click Save menu to publish your changes

Recommended Menu Structure:

For the best customer experience, consider adding these links in the following order:

  1. Gift Registry (main landing page)
  2. Find a Registry
  3. Create Registry
  4. My Registry
  5. My Wishlist

Congratulations! Gift Reggie is now successfully set up on your store with easy navigation access for your customers.

Troubleshooting

The Registry and Wishlist buttons are not appearing on my product pages

Solution: Ensure that you have completed all steps, particularly:

  • The app embed is toggled ON in Step 2
  • You clicked Save after adding the buttons in Step 7
  • You are viewing a product page (not the homepage or collection page)

I cannot find the "Registry and Wishlist" option in App embeds

Solution:

  • Verify that Gift Reggie by Modd Apps is properly installed in your Shopify admin
  • Go to Apps in your Shopify admin and confirm the app appears in your installed apps list
  • Try refreshing the theme editor page

The buttons are overlapping with other elements on my product page

Solution:

  • Adjust the margin settings in the Wishlist/Registry Buttons block
  • Increase the Top Margin to add more space above the buttons
  • If issues persist, try removing and re-adding the block

I added the buttons, but they disappeared after saving

Solution:

  • Check if the app embed is still enabled (Step 2)
  • Ensure you added the buttons to the correct product template
  • Clear your browser cache and reload the page

I need to add buttons to multiple product templates

Solution:

  • Repeat Steps 3-7 for each product template in your store
  • Common templates include: Default product, Product with variants, Product with custom options
